Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC) conducted an industrial & commercial exhibition and one day conference on the China-Pakistan Economic and Employment Opportunities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, here on Saturday.

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pervez Khattak was the chief guest of the event. Speakers of the event included Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, Abdul Karim Khan, Special Assistant to CM on Industries, Secretary Industries, Farah Hamid, CEO, KPEZDMC, Mohsin Syed, President Chamber of Commerce, Haji Afzal. The conference was attended by various ministers, government officials, prominent industrialists, educationalists and general public.

The purpose of the event was to brief the public, various stakeholders and media on the recently MoUs signed by the KP government in KP Road show, China and opportunities arising from them. The government of the KP recently held a KP Economic Co-operation Road show in China, Beijing on April 17th-18th, 2017. The participants of the road show included representatives of different departments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government with projects to exhibit in China.

The KP government has signed a number of MoUs anticipating investment of $40 billion. The CEO, KPEZDMC, Mohsin Syed briefed the media about the major projects signed during the road show including Central KP Economic Zone Rail Cargo System and Southern KP Rail Cargo System to be developed by China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) and China Railway First Group (CRFG) respectively. Central KP Economic Zone Rail cargo system, first of its kind project will link major Economic Zones along the route of CPEC providing cargo and transportation services for the industries. Southern KP Rail Cargo System focusing specifically on a long neglected southern region of the KP providing the infrastructural and transportation network for a well-developed industrial hub and to usher a new era of economic uplift through industrialisation in the Southern KP.
